The growing popularity of this product can be attributed to its aesthetic appeal combined with a maintenance-free finish that will last longer than any other option. As an example, natural wood is one of the most vulnerable materials with which to construct a gate. If not treated frequently, it will start to blacken and rot within the first year. Other manufacturers may weld the panels to the framework. Unfortunately, that installation technique will eventually lead to cracks in the material caused by the difference in material thicknesses and the constant flexing of the fence.
